The Week’s Text: 1 Corinthians 9:1-18
While 1 Corinthians is rightly seen first as a product of an apostle’s concern for a particular church and the problems that arise among that body, there is no doubt that the wider church through the ages has been attracted to this epistle because so much of its teaching appears easily and immediately applicable in any generation.
This letter has been used through generations of the church’s teaching on matters ranging from marriage and singleness, to sexual conduct and immorality, to idolatry, to use of spiritual gifts, to the last things, to the wisdom of the world and its impact on the church, to pride, to problems between the wealthy and the poor, to church unity, and many other subjects.
Our aim though this series is to better understand God’s design for His children and for His church and align our individual lives and our corporate life to that design.
