I Love the 60’s: Psalm 60

The 1960’s was a decade of extremes, of transformational change and bizarre contrasts: flower children and assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash. For many in the massive post-World War II baby boom generation, it was both the best of times and the worst of times.

During a time of war it seems an identity crisis was born. Many young people involved themselves in trying to make America a better place for all people. The boundaries of gender, sexuality, race and even space would be pushed to their limits and even broken if possible.

The Psalm 60’s are set on a backdrop of war and a search for identity. These sometimes desperate times always led the Psalmist to remember who God is and what He’s always done. No matter what you may face, God is always faithful.
